This elephant appeared in a daydream as I peered through the limbs of barren trees cutting into the autumn silver blue sky. The vibrant dead leaves fell like fingers on piano keys playing silently. Yellow major notes and red minor notes balanced out in a plethora of beautiful sound decorating dirt. I stood above the orchestra of color and decay, seeing myself in the lake of leaves. The mint moss was etched chaotically and comfortably into tall oaks and maples, hanging like ice. As I was joyfully loathing it all and standing face to face with the temporary nature of life this image was conjured in my mind. This elephant was created by sampling 72 colors from Maryland trees and leaves.
